The History ! Australian Football in North Wagga goes as far back as 1887. At that time known as Old Town, playing on the North Wagga recreation Ground, located where the current horse grounds are now adjacent to the railway viaduct. Records show that in 1933-1940 North Wagga Stars played in the Wagga ARFL team colours were Black and white hoops. Following WW2 in 1946 the club was reformed, the team wore heavy white cotton guernsey’s with a red star sown on the front. The Stars played in two Grand Finals of Wagga ARFL. In 1946 North Wagga Stars 10.7. 67 drew with Junee 09.13.67. Junee defeated North Wagga Stars in the Grand Final replay at Bolton Park. 1949 Gumly Gumly 10.12.72 defeated North Wagga Stars 8.10.58 at Bolton Park. The stars remained in the Wagga ARFL until 1957 when North Wagga Stars and North Wagga Saints merged to form North Wagga FC playing in Albury & DFL. Inspired by a colour photo of Bill Mohr a former North Wagga junior who went on to play for St Kilda it was decided to adopt the Red, White and Black colours of St Kilda. Junior teams were added following WW2. North Wagga has been associated with various leagues in this area. Wagga Football League, Albury and Districts F.L., Farrer F.L, Riverina FL and Riverina D.F.L. 1933-1940
